Public facilities make up 47 per cent of all facilities in the country.

Private and Faith-Based/NGO facilities constitute 46 per cent and eight per cent, respectively.

Among the lowest-level facilities (Level 2), government ownership is high, but private ownership rises at higher levels of care.

Data by the Kenya National Bureau of Standards (KNBS) shows that there are more than 11,000 level 2 facilities in the country.

Level six, which comprises national referral hospitals, has only six health facilities.
