Why Safaricom shops in various parts of country will remain closed on Thursday

Telecommunications giant Safaricom has announced that several of its retail outlets across the country will temporarily close on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

The closure according to Safaricom will be to allow staff to participate in an internal company event.

The company, however, did not disclose details of the internal event.

“Please note that our Safaricom Shops in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, Mombasa, Malindi, Diani, Machakos, Kitui, Thika, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Embu, Maua, Meru and Garissa will be closed on Thursday, 9th October 2025 for an internal staff event,” the company said.

Additionally, the company said their shops in the Mount Kenya, Coast, Eastern, and North Eastern regions will close earlier than usual on Wednesday, October 8, to facilitate preparations for the event.

“Shops in the Mount Kenya, Coast, Eastern and North Eastern regions will begin closing earlier on Wednesday, starting from 11:30 am.”

Safaricom apologized for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and thanked customers for their understanding.

The company noted that services during the period will continue to be provided to their customers through their virtual chatbot Zuri and authorized dealers across the country.

“To ensure continued service during this period, we encourage you to use the following alternatives: Zuri Chatbot available on our digital platforms, Safaricom Contact Centre, and Authorized Safaricom Dealer Outlets located near our retail shops,” the notice read.
