Chafing happens when skin repeatedly rubs against skin, clothing, or gear, causing irritation, redness, and sometimes painful rashes or blisters.

It’s common in warm weather, during exercise, or anywhere sweat adds friction—think thighs, underarms, and under the breasts.

Prevent it by keeping skin dry, wearing moisture-wicking clothes, and using protective balms or powders.

If chafing occurs, gently clean the area, pat it dry, and apply a soothing ointment like petroleum jelly or a zinc-based cream.

Persistent or infected chafing may need medical attention.
