Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has asked Kenyans to give him between three and four weeks to announce his political direction.
Speaking during a press briefing on Saturday, Nyoro said he has been reflecting on the country’s future and the kind of leadership and alliances required to achieve it
Nyoro said the decision he is preparing to make goes beyond political convenience and will be guided by what he believes is best for Kenya.
“I have been thinking about the way forward,” Nyoro said.
“In the next three to four weeks, I’ll give the way forward on which team I’ll decide to move forward with. I pray for patience.”
The MP said he has spent months reflecting on political formations and the broader national direction before arriving at any conclusions.
According to Nyoro, his decision will not be influenced by immediate political pressures but by long-term considerations about the country’s future.
“This decision is not about my political convenience, but what Kenya will become. The decision is the heaviest for me,” he said.
“I don’t do things half-baked. Once I make a decision, I stand by it.”
Nyoro acknowledged that he was part of the campaign team that supported the current administration and said he remains aware that his previous political choices continue to shape public expectations around his next move.
At the same time, he indicated that he had been working on ideas and proposals for several months that would inform the position he eventually takes.
“I have been working on something for the last many months around that question, objectively on the kind of Kenya we would like to have,” he said.
“It’s the kind that would dictate what kind of team we need to do this job.”
The lawmaker appealed to Kenyans not to pressure him into making a rushed political declaration amid ongoing public pressure.
“I plead with Kenyans so that I’m not pushed in the situation of the moment, as the storm has been ravaging me. It’s too weighty a decision to make,” he said.
“Not that I don’t know what we need to do and who we need to work with, but in terms of deliverables to the people of Kenya.”
Nyoro further asked for time to present his position comprehensively.
“I request Kenyans to give me three to four weeks to share my specific views on the issue of political formations and things we need to do in terms of the Republic of Kenya,” he said.
