    In 2024, a total of 353 cyber fraud cases were reported by Kenyans, marking a significant increase from 173 cases in 2023.

    The most common type of fraud reported was mobile banking fraud, with 146 cases.

    This was followed by online banking fraud with 106 reported cases. Identity theft accounted for 56 cases, while card fraud and computer fraud were reported 24 and 12 times, respectively.

    Finally, internet scams were the least reported type, with only 9 cases.

    The data suggests that while the number of reported cases has increased across the board, mobile and online banking fraud continue to be the most frequent threats faced by Kenyans.
