Following Nigeria, Mozambique had the second-highest toll at 7,800.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda both experienced a significant impact, each reporting 3,200 deaths. Angola's number stood at 2,900, while Kenya and Zambia followed closely behind with 2,700 and 2,300 deaths, respectively.
Zimbabwe also reported 2,300 deaths. South Africa saw 1,500 fatalities, and Congo had the lowest number among the listed countries, with 1,400 deaths.
These figures underscore the devastating and continued impact of AIDS on children across the continent.
