Based on a survey by ICEA LION, Kenyans' investment preferences are heavily skewed towards options promising high returns, with 34% of respondents citing this as their top priority. The most popular investment vehicle is a SACCO, chosen by 27% of those surveyed. Interest-earning banks and peer/community groups tie for second place at 21% each. The data reveals a significant drop in popularity for other options. Farming and property leasing garner only 9% and 8% of the vote, respectively. Less than 5% of Kenyans prefer investing in money market funds, buying/selling land, stock market shares, or treasury bills and bonds, highlighting a lack of interest in these more traditional financial instruments among the general population.
