A new report has revealed the 10 counties that have allocated the smallest portions of their budgets to development during the initial nine months of the 2024/25 financial year.

Kisumu County stands out with the lowest percentage, dedicating only 8.5% of its total expenditure to development.

Taita/Taveta and Nakuru follow closely behind at 9.6% and 10.5%, respectively.

Also among those with lower development spending relative to their overall budgets are Nairobi City, Nyeri, and Lamu.

At the higher end of this bottom ten, Kakamega (14.0%), Embu (13.9%), and West Pokot (13.7%) show slightly more robust development prioritisation.
