    The Economic Survey Report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) shows that registrations of new saloon cars dropped from 6,378 in 2023 to 5,367 in 2024.

    Overall, the total number of registered road vehicles and motorcycles declined by 14.9 per cent, from 195,656 units in 2023 to 166,514 units in 2024.

    Specifically, the report covering the last four years shows that newly registered road motor vehicles fell by 21.4 per cent, from 119,205 in 2023 to 93,646 in 2024.

    Newly registered lorries and trucks dropped sharply by 60.0 per cent, from 13,635 in 2023 to 5,456 in 2024, while trailers followed a similar trend, declining by 66.7 per cent to 2,123 units in 2024.

    Panel vans and pick-ups saw a decline of 54.6 per cent, falling to 5,879 units in 2024, according to the 2025 report.
