The President was at Yusuf Haji Girls Secondary School in Masalani, Ijara constituency, where he laid the foundation stone for Phase II of the institution’s expansion.
The visit also saw him hand over a brand-new school bus, highlighting the two key initiatives as part of the gains of the enhanced Sh702 billion allocation for the education sector in the 2025-26 fiscal year.
“This investment has helped improve school infrastructure, enabled the hiring of 100,000 teachers and expanded funding for our colleges and universities,” President Ruto said.

He noted the government’s commitment to enhancing learning environments and educational opportunities nationwide.
The head of state underscored that the broader goal is to equip Kenyans with the resources and skills necessary to build a robust workforce and help propel the nation towards first-world status.
“We are keen on ensuring that every child, in every part of the country, has access to quality education that empowers them to thrive,” he added.
For ceremonial effect, President Ruto personally drove the school bus into the compound, much to the delight of students, teachers, and government officials present.

The moment reflected a hands-on approach that has become characteristic of his public engagements.
“We are very happy to be in your school. You have a beautiful school,” he told learners later during a classroom interaction, engaging them in conversation about their studies and aspirations.

The event follows a pattern seen in recent days, where the President has physically engaged with projects he launches.
On Friday, he was filmed behind the wheel of a truck while discussing the multi-billion Rironi-Mau Summit Road project, which he inaugurated amid much fanfare.
“This monumental project will ease movement to the Western region of our country, strengthen regional connectivity, and stimulate trade and economic activity within Kenya and across our borders,” he noted.
By blending ceremonial participation with hands-on involvement, President Ruto continues to send a message that national development extends beyond speeches, highlighting infrastructure, education and connectivity as critical pillars for the country’s growth trajectory.
The President later attended the wedding ceremony of the son of the director general of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), Noordin Haji in Masalani, Ijara constituency.
