New vehicle registrations in Kenya dropped significantly by 21%, falling from 119,205 units in 2023 to 93,646 units in 2024, according to provisional data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
This marks the first sharp decline since the post-COVID recovery, reversing the steady growth seen from 2020 to 2023.
The last time registrations dipped below 100,000 units was in 2020, when the country recorded 94,128 units due to pandemic disruptions.
