The government has adopted a muti-agency approach in mitigating the effects of the ongoing rains which have caused massive flooding in most parts of the country.

As of May 1, Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura said the country had lost 179 people due to the ongoing floods.

Among the dead are 164 adults and 15 children, he said.

Mwaura said another 125 Kenyans have been injured and are receiving treatment in health facilities across the country.

Mwaura said 20 more people have been reported missing raising the number to 90.
