DP Gachagua controversial remarks

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in the eye of a storm for what critics say is abetting tribalism, with opposition leaders threatening to lead anti-taxation campaigns in their regions.

Gachagua does seem to say the wrong thing at the wrong time, although he says it's the right thing.

He likened Kenya to a listed firm where the State benefits, and top government appointments would first go to regions that supported his election alongside that of President William Ruto.

Many leaders on Monday termed his statement reckless, coming only months after a divisive presidential race.
