Two weeks after taking an oath of office President William Ruto Tuesday unveiled his Cabinet members.
The list consisted of 15 men and seven women in what was seen as Ruto's move to renege on the campaign promise.
Susan Wafula was among the 22 nominees and was appointed to head the Health dock. If approved by Parliament, she will take over from Mutahi Kagwe.
Very little is known about Wafula, with a majority of Kenyans having heard about her for the first time following the nomination.
She started her career at a diploma level if her LinkedIn profile is anything to go by.
She did her diploma in Pharmacy at the Kenya Medical Training College.
She also did another diploma in Healthcare Management at the Kenya Institute of Management between 2005-2006 and scored a Distinction
Susan then joined JKUAT and pursued a bachelor's degree in Procurement and Management.
After her bachelor's, she did Masters of Science in Procurement and Logistics, Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management still in JKUAT.
She is set to complete her PhD in Business Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Research, Procurement and Logistics.
She has worked at many healthcare firms such as Kenya Medical Supplies Agency, AAR Healthcare, Nairobi Women’s Hospital and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).
Wafula is a seasoned supply chain professional with more than 15 years of global and multicultural experience in agile and intelligent supply chains and operations in the healthcare industry.
The unveiling of the cabinet came shortly after he held his inaugural cabinet meeting with outgoing cabinet secretaries who served under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
