President Uhuru Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta has responded to his Deputy President William Ruto's remarks about not harming his children now that he is not supporting him for the top seat.

Uhuru said he is not capable of doing such acts even if he is in power because he believes in God.

"Those telling me not to kill their children are only telling me not to do what they, themselves would do if they were in my position. That is what they just think about. That's what they would do if they were in power. They are led by the devil. I am led by my God," Uhuru said.

Uhuru's response comes after Ruto attacked him on Friday accusing him of issuing threats.

On Friday, Ruto wanted Uhuru to shun divisive remarks that may antagonise the nation ahead of the August 9, polls.

In a bare-knuckle response to alleged threats from President Uhuru, the DP told off his boss saying it is him who made him president.

He reminded the President of how he stood with him in his hour of need telling him that he should not turn his anger to his children.

"We are the ones who voted for you for the presidency, and now you want to threaten me? as long as you do not harm my children, We should respect each other," he said.

Ruto went on to tell the Head of State to stop invoking his name in public attacks.
