Woman killed after huge tree falls on Mombasa food stall

A woman died while two others were seriously injured after a huge tree fell on a food stall in Mbaraki, Mombasa, on Thursday.

The woman was selling her wares under the tree when it fell at about 2pm.

Police said she died at the scene near Signon freight yards while the others were rescued and taken to hospital.

County commander Johnstone Ipara noted heavy rains have wreaked havoc in the area

due to poor drainage.

The body was taken to the mortuary at Coast Provincial General Hospital.
