Kenya Red Cross Society has stamped a letter allegedly appealing for donations to starving Kenyans as fake.

The fake letter which did not have a Kenya Red Cross stamp had a bank account where well-wishers were to channel the contributions.

The letter also has the exact Kenya Red Cross logo.

"The Kenya Red Cross is appealing to Kenyans of goodwill to donate help to drought-stricken areas in 14 counties. Kenyans are called upon to donate in material form in terms of food logistical help (Trucks, Water, Bowsers, personnel volunteering or in cash."

"All material help can be channelled to any of our regional offices countrywide. Cash help can be donated to our Standard Chartered Bank Accountor via Mpesa," read the letter.

The Red Cross has not given any bank account for people to channel any money.
