A FORMER TOP county official, whose political fortunes dimmed
after supposedly falling
out of favour with powerful figures, is quietly plotting a comeback. Insiders
say his private office has been a hive of activity in recent weeks, with a
series of meetings involving opinion leaders and political strategists. These
engagements reportedly signal his intention to re-enter the political arena.
The former official is said to have regained confidence following recent
developments on the political scene, setting the stage for what could be a
calculated and determined return.

A GOVERNOR FROM one of the country’s key food-producing counties
is possibly an angry man.
The county boss is protesting what he terms as interference by certain state
officers allegedly pushing personal interests. Recently, the governor was reportedly overheard telling a group
of lawmakers that the officers are trying to “micromanage me,” but vowed he
would not bow to their excesses. He supposedly threatened to escalate the matter to their political
superior if the alleged interference and blackmail persisted.

AN OPPOSITION MP has reportedly gone down on his knees to beg his
parliamentary leader to spare him disciplinary action. Corridors
of Power understands the lawmaker is in trouble after his leader learnt of his latest
misstep. The MP is said to be purportedly
among a group of legislators who have been frequenting the office of an
influential leader in search of handouts. This is despite a clear warning from
the opposition leadership against such visits. Supposedly known for his perennial financial troubles, the
legislator allegedly defied the directive and is now pleading to avoid
punishment, including possible removal from key House committees.

MEMBERS OF A county assembly are up in arms against their speaker,
whom they accuse of denying them the chance to globetrot. The speaker has
reportedly rejected several requests by the MCAs to travel abroad for
benchmarking, infuriating the ward reps. They are now said to be possibly plotting his impeachment. A
night meeting held last week allegedly resolved to “teach the speaker a
lifetime political lesson” for blocking their trips. The speaker, however, is
aware of the plan and remains adamant, insisting he will not bow to their
blackmail.
