In Summary

• “Secret” meeting before Limuru attended by Central politicians, panicking some government officials.

• Foreign makers, suppliers of leased planes won’t deal with Kenya as private leased planes grounded for fees.

Who's doing what to whom, why, when where and how.

A senior politico heading one of the critical state institutions has shocked government functionaries after allegedly buying a top-end car rivalling that of the President himself. The multimillion-shilling posh vehicle was delivered last week as officials at the institution are forced to use their own cash for foreign travels and seek refunds later due to what management attributes to a cash crunch. Corridors hears that one of the stakeholders in the institution is loudly questioning the priorities of the institution when it cannot afford some of the basics.

The presence of some senior politicians from Central at one of the rural homes of a top politician on Wednesday has sent some officials in government into a panic. They are worried over what might have been the subject of the ‘discreet’ meeting. The anxiety followed the Limuru talks. The choice of politicians in the meeting is also another issue of concern among those who care. But who cares now?

A group of airline owners has protested the move by one of their supervising agencies to detain planes belonging to a private operator over outstanding fees. This has prompted foreign manufacturers or suppliers not to enter into any leasing services in Kenya, making it expensive to run the industry. The move has allegedly prompted a series of meetings to solve the problem but all efforts seem to be in vain. The operators now want the highest authorities to intervene and release the detained aircraft to make money and repay the outstanding fees.

A first-time governor who is constantly in fights with his legislators was recently heard complaining how he has been conned and now has zero effort to fight back. Corridors is informed that the governor is now purportedly reaching out to any leader who has been fighting him to make up, start afresh and grant his request to save his political career. The governor is also said not to be on the best of terms with his sponsoring party, a matter that came to the fore when he was left out during key consultative meetings. The embattled county boss is now allegedly blaming a senior Cabinet Secretary from the area for his woes.
