A government agency and an organisation fighting exclusion and discrimination against persons with disabilities reportedly embarrassed themselves at an event they had convened to champion their movement. All was well until it was time for representatives of PWDs to speak. It then dawned on them that the dias was inaccessible to people in wheelchairs, yet organisers had insisted all public buildings must have access ramps for PWDs. One participant, who is partially blind, requested that he be provided with presentations in Braille, but none was available. Talk about preaching water and drinking wine.
