Lami Nyeusi in West Pokot county has been a battleground for years. It is three kilometres from the troubled Kainuk town, which is still disputed. The place has made headlines over banditry, cattle rustling and highway robbery.
Despite the ongoing joint operation by KDF and the police, the area is still experiencing high level of insecurity.
During a thanksgiving and prayer session organised by West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin, in which the President was the chief guest, the issue of insecurity in the region was addressed. The President ordered the construction of a police post at Lami Nyeusi.

The County Boundaries Bill, 2023 awaiting tabling before the Senate is expected to handle all boundary issues. Disgruntled parties should await its enactment
As we wait for Senate to pass the Bill, hopefully as soon as possible, we urge our leaders to desist from inciting residents. That is the solution to insecurity, not bringing in soldiers.
Construction of the police post in Lami Nyeusi as ordered by the President should commence in earnest. Any leader who bars its construction is an enemy of progress who wants insecurity to thrive at the expense of peace.
