Leaders Nairobi City Thunder coach Sadat Gaya said his charges were nowhere near their best despite an 82-56 win over USIU Tigers in a Kenya National Basketball League match.

Thunder, the only unbeaten team so far, have a maximum 28 points from 14 games. They led 20-13 in the first quarter but trailed 20-17 in the second.

“We started well but had a poor second quarter where we struggled to do things right,” said Gaya.

“In the third, we played like we should and took over the proceedings. We are not where we want to be but we are working hard towards that.”

“Every other week for us is an opportunity to get better as a group. Our practices are purely geared towards that,” said Ligare.

“We don’t wanna settle and lay back because of the record. Our coach always challenges us to play our best basketball on both ends, we are yet to do that.”

Equity Bank Dumas beat Umoja 75-51. Charles Kituyi tossed in 15 points and Alex Ramazani added 12 for the bankers.

USIU Flames shot to the top of the women’s table with 24 points after thumping Storms 79-37 with Hilda Indasi and Judy Pantaleo wreaking havoc.

Safe Spaces bagged maximum points by beating Kisumu Lady Bucks 67-59 before surviving a late scare from Butere Girls in a close 63-62 triumph.
