Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has appointed former Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis as the Chairperson of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority.

A Gazette Notice released on Friday said Kiptis will serve for a period of three years.

This is effective June 23, 2023.

Kiptis served as the second governor of Baringo County from 2017 to 2022.

During the 2022 election period,  he lost in his bid to defend the seat to his predecessor Benjamin Cheboi in the UDA primaries.

He opted to run as an independent candidate but lost, again, to Cheboi.

Other appointments made in the ministry include members of the Council for the Kenya Education Management Institute.

Stella Keter and Stephen G. Chacha will serve in the Council for  a period of three years.

"The appointments effected vide Gazette Notice Nos. 8042/2022 and 8826/2022 are revoked," the Gazette adds.

Machogu further appointed members of the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board for a period of three years.

They include Nicholas Kipruto Temoet as the chairperson, George M. Thumbi, Fred Nyambane Oanda, Peter Nganga Kariuki, Charles Chore Majani and Linda Ayuku Wekhoba as members.
