Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has said he has no problem if sent by his coalition to debate Kenya Kwanza leader William Ruto on the July 26, presidential debate.
In reaction to a statement by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who said they might consider sending him to debate Ruto, the MP said:
"I'm more than ready to debate with Ruto on condition that he will not lie and will not mention the word wheelbarrow in the presence of an intellectual," he wrote in ab Facebook post.
Junet had said his boss Raila might miss the debate if key issues like integrity and corruption will not be discussed..
"Raila will on go to the debate if the topics of discussion are integrity, corruption and governance. If it is anything else, we will send MP Babu Owino," he said.
During a media conference on June 28, Raila said he will attend the debate saying t it will not be his first.
He narrated how in 2017 he debated alone, adding that this round will not be an exception if the situation dictates.
"But I am always ready," the ODM leader added.
Babu Owino expressed confidence in flooring the DP if he faces him in the debate.
The debate is expected to take place at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
