[PHOTOS] Ruto meets International Phonographic Industry delegation at State House

President William Ruto on Tuesday hosted a high-level delegation from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) at State House, Nairobi.

The meeting brought together the President and representatives of the global recording industry, signalling Kenya's continued engagement with international stakeholders in the music and creative economy.

While details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, the talks are expected to focus on opportunities for collaboration within the country's growing creative sector.

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) is the global voice of the recording industry.

Headquartered in London, the non-profit organisation represents the interests of more than 8,000 record companies across over 70 countries.

They include major music labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group, alongside thousands of independent record labels.

IFPI advocates for the value of recorded music, campaigns for stronger copyright and intellectual property protections, and leads global efforts to combat music piracy.

The organisation also publishes the Global Music Report, regarded as the leading source of data and analysis on the performance of the worldwide recorded music industry.

The meeting at State House comes as Kenya continues to position the creative economy as a key driver of economic growth, with the music industry playing an increasingly important role in creating jobs, promoting local talent and expanding digital opportunities for artists.
