PHOTOS: Ruto receives blueprint for Kenya's post-Vision 2030 future

President William Ruto has today received a report titled "Developing a New Vision for Kenya: Towards a First World Nation."

The proposal, developed by a team of distinguished experts led by Professor Hiroyuki Hino, former IMF Mission Chief for Kenya and Senior Advisor in the IMF's African Department, outlines a roadmap for transforming Kenya into a first-world nation.

Speaking during the presentation at State House, Ruto described the report as a thoughtful and valuable contribution to an important national conversation.

He said the report's greatest strength lies not in claiming to provide every answer, but in raising critical questions, challenging long-held assumptions, broadening perspectives, and enriching national reflection on the choices that will shape Kenya's future.

"These efforts are driven by a larger reality. For nearly two decades, Vision 2030 has provided Kenya with a shared sense of purpose and direction. It has guided reforms, inspired investment, and shaped our nation's development journey," Ruto said.

The President said as Vision 2030 approaches its conclusion, Kenya has a responsibility to craft a new national vision that will guide the country's next phase of development.

The team behind the report also included Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang' Nyong'o, Professor Michael Chege, Professor Karuti Kanyinga, and Professor Peter Wanyande.

Ruto commended the team and all the contributors for their scholarship, dedication, and patriotism, saying their collective efforts had produced a significant body of work that will help inform Kenya's long-term development agenda.
