President William Ruto on Tuesday hosted United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah at State House, Nairobi, days after his defeat in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
Muchina lost the July 16 contest to Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Sammy Kamau, who secured a decisive victory after receiving 35,440 votes.
The UDA candidate finished second with 5,450 votes. Jubilee Party’s Wilson Mwaniki Kigwa received 198 votes, while Stephen Wanyoike Waithaka of the National Liberal Party garnered 103 votes.
The Ol Kalou by-election was closely watched as a political indicator ahead of the 2027 General Election. The outcome sparked celebrations among DCP leaders and supporters, who hailed the win as a major political breakthrough.
Tuesday’s meeting between President Ruto and Muchina took place at State House, Nairobi, although details of their discussions were not disclosed.
The visit came amid heightened political attention following the by-election results, which saw the ruling party’s candidate defeated in a race that attracted interest beyond the constituency.
