Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has said leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza administration in Mt Kenya East will support President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in the 2027 General Election, citing ongoing government development projects in the region.
Speaking during an academic day at Kirindine Day Secondary School in Igembe South on Friday, Ruku said the government remains focused on implementing development programmes in education, infrastructure and agriculture.
He said the administration has allocated resources to support schools through capitation and improve access to quality education.
Ruku also noted that the region currently holds a prominent position in national leadership and called on residents to remain united as the government continues implementing its development agenda.
He urged residents to assess leaders based on the development initiatives undertaken in their areas.
Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi said the constituency has benefited from several national government projects, including the establishment of a Huduma Centre, construction of a new police station, creation of Akachiu Subcounty, allocation of Sh50 million for government infrastructure and Sh17 million for the construction of Kiegoi–Antubochiu Subcounty offices, which he said are expected to begin in August.
Mwirigi also said the government's recruitment of teachers has helped improve staffing levels in public schools and enhanced access to education.
Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri also expressed support for the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying the government has implemented development projects in various parts of the region.
He encouraged residents to continue supporting development initiatives.
The leaders made the remarks as political activities continue to gather momentum in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
