Ol Kalou MP-elect Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru has praised Nyandarua Senator John Methu, describing him as the driving force behind his successful parliamentary campaign.
Waweru said Methu went beyond offering political support by dedicating his time, resources and home to the campaign that culminated in the by-election victory.
The MP-elect said in a post on Saturday that the senator served not only as his campaign team leader but also as one of his closest confidants throughout the race.
"Some people support a campaign. Others dedicate their entire lives to it. Senator John Methu did the latter," Waweru said.
He credited Methu with giving his "heart, mind and soul" to the campaign, describing him as his greatest pillar during months of intense political mobilisation.
According to Waweru, Methu and his family turned their Mugumo home in Rurii into the campaign's operational base, where strategy meetings were held, and supporters found accommodation and encouragement.
"Together with his family, he opened the doors of his Mugumo home in Rurii and turned it into the heartbeat of our campaign," he said.
"For months, it became a home away from home for hundreds of our supporters. It was where we held strategy meetings, planned our next moves, rested after long days on the campaign trail, shared tea, found encouragement and renewed our strength before returning to the people."
The MP-elect said the family's hospitality and sacrifice played a significant role in the campaign, providing what he described as a sanctuary that enabled his team to remain focused throughout the contest.
"His generosity, sacrifice and hospitality were extraordinary. He gave us more than a meeting place—he gave us a sanctuary and a foundation upon which this historic victory was built," Waweru said.
He thanked the senator for his unwavering loyalty and commitment, saying history would remember the contribution he and his family made to the by-election win.
"My brother, Senator Methu, words cannot fully express my gratitude. Your loyalty, friendship and selfless commitment will forever have a special place in my heart," he said.
"This victory belongs to the people of Ol Kalou, but history will remember the immense role you and your family played in making it possible."
Waweru also wished blessings upon Methu and his family, thanking them for standing by him throughout the campaign.
The Ol Kalou by-election attracted intense political interest, with Kenya Kwanza and the DCP mounting vigorous campaigns in what was widely viewed as a key political contest ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Waweru emerged victorious after a tightly contested race, securing a significant win for DCP in the Mt Kenya region.
He floored UDA's Samuel Muchina.
