Detectives in Ruiru, Kiambu County, are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found floating in a drainage tunnel near Zetech University.
The incident was reported on Thursday after officials from the university alerted authorities upon spotting a body in the drainage system.
Police officers responded to the scene along the Thika Superhighway and confirmed the report.
Police said the man had not been identified and that the cause of death could not be immediately established.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from DCI Ruiru processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary.
The body is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
The latest incident comes barely two days after another unidentified man's body was recovered in the same area.
In the earlier case, police launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was retrieved from the Ruiru River beneath a bridge along the Thika-Nairobi Superhighway in Juja, Kiambu County.
According to police, the incident was reported on Tuesday after members of the public spotted the body of an unidentified African male, estimated to be about 40 years old, floating in the river near Gwa Kairu.
As authorities awaited divers from the Kiambu County Government to retrieve the body, a crowd of onlookers became agitated and blocked the Thika-Nairobi Superhighway above the bridge, causing a major traffic snarl-up.
The situation was brought under control after additional police officers from Juja Police Station and Ruiru Sub-County were deployed, allowing traffic to resume normally.
The body, which police said had no visible external injuries, was eventually retrieved from the river before crime scene officers processed and documented the scene.
The body was moved to Thika General Kago Road Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending identification and a post-mortem examination.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death and have appealed to anyone with information that could help identify him to report to the nearest police station.
The discovery prompted speculation among members of the public, although police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death were ongoing.
