The fake document circulating on social media/TSC

‎The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has dismissed as fake a circular circulating on social media claiming that teachers will receive the second phase of their salary increment under the 2025-29 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) from July 2026.

‎The purported circular, dated July 16, 2026, alleges that the government has allocated Sh8.4 billion to facilitate the salary increment, promotions and the employment of Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.

‎It further claims that due to technical challenges, the revised salaries would not be reflected in the July payroll but would instead be paid in August together with salary arrears.

‎However, the TSC has marked it as fake, indicating that it did not originate from the commission.

‎The fake notice, addressed to all TSC teachers, had caused confusion among educators awaiting implementation of the second phase of the salary review negotiated under the current CBA.

‎The commission has not issued any official communication announcing the implementation of the alleged July salary increment or changes to the payroll schedule.

‎Teachers have been urged to disregard the circulating document and rely only on official communication issued through TSC's verified platforms.

‎The fake circular comes amid heightened public interest over teachers' remuneration, promotions and recruitment of JSS teachers following the implementation of the 2025-29 CBA.

‎Misinformation targeting public institutions has become increasingly common, with government agencies frequently warning the public against relying on unverified documents shared on social media.

‎The circulation of fake notices has often triggered unnecessary anxiety among public servants and members of the public, forcing institutions to issue clarifications.

‎Teachers are advised to verify any information relating to salaries, promotions or employment directly with the commission before acting on it.

‎"Please be advised," TSC wrote on X.

‎The commission is expected to communicate any official decisions on salary reviews or implementation timelines through its established communication channels.
