ODM leader Oburu Odinga has called a Senate Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting for today evening, July 15, amid reports that changes to the House leadership could be on the agenda.
The agenda of the meeting remains unclear, although sources familiar with the plans said it could focus on possible changes to the Senate leadership.
Senate Minority Leader Stewart Madzayo confirmed the meeting but declined to disclose the agenda.
"It is a normal party PG meeting. Nothing much. Let us wait for the outcome," Madzayo said.
The meeting comes amid speculation that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna could be removed from his position as Senate Deputy Minority Whip.
Last month, Sifuna was dropped from the Senate Energy Committee, which is chaired by Oburu.
The outspoken senator was also removed as ODM Secretary General amid growing divisions within the party over its cooperation with President William Ruto's administration.
Sifuna has been associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement, a faction within ODM that has opposed the party's working relationship with the Kenya Kwanza government.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of disagreements within ODM over the party’s working relationship with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
