The newly appointed CEO and Secretary of the Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of the Ombudsman), Naisiae Paloshe Tobiko, has officially been sworn in.

‎Tobiko took the oath of office during a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court building in Nairobi on Friday, July 3.

‎Tobiko assumes office at the helm of the commission to succeed Mercy Wambua, who resigned in January this year.

‎Wambua had served since 2022.

‎The commission is established under Article 59(4) of the Constitution and the Commission on Administrative Justice Act, 2011.

‎It is mandated to investigate and address maladministration in public institutions across both the national and county governments, promote fair administrative action, and safeguard citizens against abuse of power in public service. 

‎It also oversees and enforces the implementation of the Access to Information Act, 2016, which guarantees the public's right to access information held by the State and other public bodies.

The commission CEO also serves as the commissary Secretary.
