Head of Public Service Felix Koskei on Wednesday led Principal Secretaries on an inspection tour of key government development projects in Nairobi after chairing the Fourth Principal Secretaries Forum, where they reviewed progress in implementing flagship programmes under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The inspection followed a day-long meeting in South C, during which the Principal Secretaries reviewed the implementation of presidential directives, assessed government performance and discussed measures to accelerate service delivery across ministries, departments and agencies.
The delegation visited the Shauri Moyo Affordable Housing Project, Starehe Affordable Housing Project, the City Cotton trunk sewer, river restoration and non-motorised transport works, and the rehabilitated Kamukunji Recreation Park.
Housing and Urban Development Principal Secretary Charles Hinga led the team through the projects, highlighting milestones achieved and ongoing works.
Koskei said the inspection allowed senior government officials to assess the implementation of projects aimed at improving the quality of life for Kenyans.
"The significant progress witnessed across these projects demonstrates the Government's steadfast commitment to delivering transformative development that improves the quality of life for all Kenyans," he said.
He said the projects form part of the government's broader development agenda championed by President William Ruto, which focuses on expanding access to affordable housing, improving infrastructure, restoring the environment and creating employment opportunities.
"These investments are expanding access to decent and affordable housing, modernising critical infrastructure, restoring the environment, creating employment opportunities and enhancing public spaces for our communities," Koskei said.
He added that the government remained committed to completing the projects on schedule so they could deliver long-term social and economic benefits.
"We remain committed to supporting the timely implementation of these transformative programmes to ensure they deliver lasting social and economic benefits for present and future generations."
Earlier, while opening the Fourth Principal Secretaries Forum of 2026, Koskei said the meeting reviewed government delivery, implementation of presidential directives and resolutions reached during previous forums.
He said the discussions focused on strategic priorities requiring coordinated action across the public service amid changing global economic conditions and increasing public expectations for efficient service delivery.
According to Koskei, the forum examined Kenya's national trade interests, the Livestock Investment Initiative, labour mobility, the national response to gender-based violence and femicide, and the country's prevailing security situation.
"Our deliberations advanced ongoing Government action to strengthen economic competitiveness, unlock investment, expand employment opportunities, protect vulnerable members of society and safeguard national stability," he said.
The Principal Secretaries also agreed on measures aimed at accelerating the implementation of government programmes and improving coordination across ministries to support the timely delivery of development projects and public services.
