Political activist and Inject Party leader Morara Kebaso has criticised the Linda Mwananchi movement, saying the outfit is not yet prepared to provide the kind of leadership and alternative vision Kenya needs ahead of the 2027 general election.

Kebaso said the movement, which has recently gained momentum under the leadership of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, does not have clear ideological direction capable of transforming the country.

His remarks come at a time when Linda Mwananchi has been expanding rapidly across the country, attracting prominent political figures and positioning itself as a major opposition force.

Kebaso maintained that while many Kenyans are dissatisfied with the current political establishment, replacing one political formation with another without a distinct vision would not solve the country's problems.

He argued that Kenya requires fresh leadership grounded in integrity, accountability and new ideas rather than a recycling of familiar political actors.

He urged young leaders to unite and create a new political direction outside the traditional political structures. In an earlier statement, Kebaso declared: “Let all young leaders come together and chart a new path for Kenya. We will not recycle the problem to solve the problem.”

The comments are likely to intensify debate around the future of the opposition as Linda Mwananchi continues to attract support from leaders across the political divide.

The movement has recently welcomed figures such as former Law Society of Kenya president Faith Odhiambo and former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, with its leaders insisting that the outfit is steadily evolving into a national political force.

Linda Mwananchi leaders have repeatedly expressed confidence in the movement's growth. Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi recently stated that the movement would soon cause a political “earthquake” as more leaders from different regions join its ranks.
