Liverpool have turned to one of Europe's most highly rated young coaches to lead the club into its next chapter, appointing Andoni Iraola as head coach on a deal running until June 2028.

The 43-year-old Spaniard officially takes over at Anfield following the departure of Arne Slot, with the Reds banking on his attacking philosophy and proven ability to build competitive teams.

Iraola arrives on Merseyside with his stock at an all-time high after an impressive spell at AFC Bournemouth, where he transformed the Cherries into one of the Premier League's most exciting sides.

His greatest achievement came when he guided Bournemouth to a historic sixth-place finish, securing qualification for the UEFA Europa League for the first time in the club's 127-year history. The feat elevated his reputation across Europe and placed him on the radar of several top clubs.

Before his success in England, Iraola made his mark in Spain with Rayo Vallecano, leading the club to promotion and helping establish them as a competitive force in La Liga.

Known for his high-intensity pressing game, tactical flexibility and attacking football, Iraola has built a reputation for getting the best out of his players while implementing a clear and effective playing style.

Liverpool believe he is the right man to drive the club forward and build a sustainable project capable of competing for major honours both domestically and in Europe.

The appointment signals the club's ambition to remain among football's elite, with supporters hoping Iraola can usher in a fresh period of success at Anfield.

With his contract now signed and all formalities completed, focus shifts to preparations for the new season as Liverpool's new boss begins work on shaping the next chapter of the club's storied history.
