
Police in Nyali Subcounty, Mombasa county, are investigating the death of a 49-year-old man whose decomposing body was found inside his house in the Mgongeni area of Kisimani-Frere Town.
The incident was reported on Thursday by a village elder from Mgongeni.
Police officers from Mbungoni Police Post visited the scene and found the body of Felix Omondi lying inside his single-room servant’s quarters.
Investigators believe the deceased had died about three to four days earlier as the body had already started decomposing.
According to preliminary reports, Omondi had been living alone after separating from his wife, who is said to have relocated to Malindi.
Neighbours told police he was last seen alive on Sunday, May 17, during the day.
The scene was processed and documented as investigations into the death continue.
In a different incident, police in Malindi Subcounty, Kilifi county, are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a 48-year-old man was found decomposing inside his house in the Gede Rainbow area.
The incident was reported to Gede Police Station on Friday by a resident who alerted authorities after a foul smell emanated from the house of his uncle.
Police found the lifeless body of James Kasiwa Muhambi, lying on his back on a bed with the door to the house open.
Police said blood was oozing from the deceased’s ears, and he had a swollen face and neck, with the tongue protruding outside the mouth and one fist clenched.
Investigators said the deceased had last been seen alive three days earlier.
The scene was processed and documented by crime scene personnel before the body was moved to the Malindi Sub-County Referral Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere, police in Ruiru, Kiambu county, are investigating a sudden death incident after a man collapsed and died at a grocery kiosk along the Ruiru bypass.
According to police, the incident happened Friday, and the deceased, identified as Peterson Kinyanjui, had approached a local businessman seeking to sell him a bunch of bananas.
The businessman told police that at around 3 pm, he briefly turned to attend to another customer before noticing Kinyanjui suddenly collapse and lose consciousness.
Police officers and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene, where it was processed and documented.
The body was later moved to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Elsewhere, police in Gatanga Subcounty, Murang’a County, are investigating the death of a 38-year-old man who was found dead inside his house in Gathanji village.
The incident was reported at Kirwara Police Station on Friday at about 9:10 pm by Julius Kamande Mwaura, 72, after he discovered the body of his son, Samuel Mwaura Kamande, lying on a bed inside his house.
According to the report, the father became concerned after failing to see his son throughout the day and decided to check on him at around 8:30 pm.
Upon opening the door to the house, he found him unresponsive and immediately alerted the area assistant chief, who advised him to report the matter to police.
Officers visited the scene and established that the body had no visible injuries.
The scene was processed and documented before
the body was moved to Kirwara Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.
