Residents quickly alerted the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), prompting a response team from Sibiloi National Park to safely retrieve the calf.

KWS praised the community for its vigilance and compassion.

“This is conservation in action, driven by collaboration and shared responsibility,” it said.

The agency urged the public to report any injured or stranded wildlife for immediate assistance.

Reports can be made through the 24/7 toll-free line 0800 597 000, via WhatsApp on 0726 610 509 or at the nearest KWS office.
