The Mukuru Community Justice Centre has accused
the police of using violence to conduct forced evictions in Mukuru Kwa
Njenja, Nairobi.
“Stop forced evictions. Stop police violence. Respect the rule
of law,” the organisation said in a statement.
It said the evictions are continuing despite existing court
orders aimed at protecting the residents.
The justice centre condemned the alleged use of excessive force,
describing it as a threat to the safety and dignity of community members.
It urged authorities to immediately halt the evictions and
ensure any relocation of residents follows legal procedures and respects the
rights and safety of residents.
