Police are pursuing a gang that abducted a man from his home and killed him in Amayo village, Bondo, Siaya County.

Police believe the murder of the man identified as Hezron Nyamburi, 37, is linked to a murder incident in the area where he was a key witness.

He was a witness in the murder of Dennis Ambrose Achieng, 75, on November 14, 2025, along Orengo-Gul Min Ougo Road, police said on Sunday.

Three suspects had been arrested and presented in court on a miscellaneous application before being freed on Sh100,000 cash bail pending plea on January 19, 2026.

On January 16, 2026 afternoon, Nyamburi was abducted from his home by unknown people and killed. His body was found dumped in a swamp in Ndati village after the said murder, police said.

Locals said he had been forced onto a motorcycle and ridden away.

Police were called to the scene and picked up the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Detectives believe the murder is linked to the case that is pending in court and they are pursuing the killers.

Locals demanded action on the murder amid fears of retaliation. A suspect was arrested on Saturday over the earlier murder.

Police visited the scene and assured the locals that efforts were being made to apprehend the killers.

Such bizarre murder incidents have been on the rise in the area amid efforts to address them.

Elsewhere in Muna, Limuru, Kiambu County, a six-year-old boy died in a fire incident.

The fire broke out in their house on January 15 evening killing him.

The cause of the fire was not immediately established, police said as they moved the remains to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, including investigations.

Elsewhere in the Kemera area, Nyamira County, a night guard was killed in a robbery at a bar.

The deceased, who was identified as Charles Mokaya, 55, was found lying in a pool of blood long after his murder in Riverside Bar at the local trading centre.

The guard was on duty at the bar when he was attacked on the night of January 16, police said.

The attackers stole alcohol from the bar and escaped. Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

And in Witu, Lamu County, police are investigating an incident where a rusty G3 rifle was recovered in a bush.

The weapon was found near Nyangoro bridge by a team that was on patrol.

It was taken for ballistic tests and analysis, police said of the January 14 incident.
