The body of a man who had been missing was found severed after an attack by unknown wild animals in a forest in Maralal, Samburu county.

The incident happened on December 11, 2025, in Mpokonden village, police said.

The man’s left leg had been severed by the suspected wild animals.

Police and Kenya Wildlife Service officials visited the scene and identified the deceased man as Mulangoi Lekartiwa.

He had been missing since December 8 until three days later, when the body was found in the area. The matter had been reported to the local authorities.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

Elsewhere, a form three student drowned at a water point while swimming in Osbay area, Mandera county.

Police said the incident happened on Thursday in Neboi village and that the victim was a student at Duse Secondary School in the area.

The body was retrieved hours later and taken to a local mortuary pending autopsy and burial.

Meanwhile, a man drowned as he and others were racing on a boat at Lake Victoria in Busia county.

The incident happened in Port Victoria’s Marenga area as a group of nine people on board a wooden boat was practising for an upcoming boat racing event.

Witnesses said the boat capsized, leading to the drowning.

Eight other people were rescued from the water after the Thursday, December 11, 2025, incident which happened at about 4 pm.

The efforts to trace the body went on into the night, police said, adding the exercise resumed Friday.

In a different incident, police are investigating an incident where a 17-year-old boy was found dead after suspected suicide in Njabini, Nyandarua county.

The body of the boy was discovered on Thursday, lying in a thicket on the riverbanks of Chania River.

He had gone missing since December 8, and it was not until December 11, 2025, that the body was discovered.

 It was established that the deceased had a sisal rope around his neck.

Police said they combed the area and found a tree branch with a tied piece of sisal rope on top of the cliff, which is believed the boy had used to hang himself.

The motive of the incident was not known, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police said they are yet to know if the boy died by suicide or was killed, and the suicide theory staged.

The team was talking to the parents of the boy as part of the investigation into the death.
