Police are investigating murder in an incident where the body of a woman was found wrapped in a sack and dumped in a river in Makunga, Navakholo area, in Kakamega county.

The body was in a green sack and was floating on river Sasala when it was spotted by locals in Makunga, police said.

It was decomposed when it was found, police said.

Police suspect the woman was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the river.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an identification and autopsy.

In a different incident, a three-year-old boy died in a fire incident in Nkareta area, Narok County.

Another one, aged five, was rescued in the incident.

The boy died after another boy set a heap of grass in a store on fire.

This happened as they played at the scene. He was choked and burnt to death.

The remains were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy following the Monday incident, police said.

In Kuria, Migori County, one Daniel Menganya, 45, was found dead on a footpath.

Police said they were yet to establish the cause of the death.

Elsewhere in Chinga, Nyeri county, a wanted murder suspect was found dead on a tree after a suspected suicide mission.

The police said they were looking for the suspect over the murder of his wife on Monday, December 8, when they stumbled on the body hanging from a tree.

He had escaped to a forested area where he hanged himself, police said.

A machete suspected to be the murder weapon and a pair of trousers were recovered at the scene.
