Two people were shot and killed in the latest clashes between communities in the Angata Barrikoi area, Transmara, Narok County.
The first victim was killed on Wednesday, November 26, in Kapkures village, Oldonyorok area, as he and a group attempted to cross to another village.
The second body was discovered on Thursday in Lolama village, the police reported.
This brings the total number of deaths in the area over the past three days to four, following clashes that were reportedly triggered by an attempted cattle rustling incident.
On Wednesday, residents reportedly stoned police officers responding to the scene where the body of Phillip Yegon, 41, was found.
The villagers expressed frustration, accusing the police of failing to protect them and prevent them from moving to the location.
During the incident, a police vehicle was damaged, and officers fired shots into the air to disperse the crowd.
The body of Yegon was later retrieved and taken to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Police reported that he had sustained gunshot wounds and injuries consistent with a knife attack.
Tensions remained high in the area on Thursday, with increased police deployment to prevent further clashes.
Earlier incidents in the area included the killing of two men, Wesley Kiprotich and Bernard Kimeto, whose bodies were found in a sugar plantation in Gethuro on Sunday, November 23.
The plantation, covering over 17 acres, was reportedly set on fire during the clashes. Police said the men had sustained gunshot wounds and were partially burnt. Authorities suspect they were involved in an attempted livestock theft.
Cattle rustling has been a recurring issue in the area, prompting locals to arm themselves for protection.
The government has increased security deployment, including the presence of an Anti-Stock Theft Unit, to curb further incidents.
In a separate incident in Kokuro, Turkana County, a man was killed in a suspected case of mistaken identity. Edapal Achulo, 25, was shot outside a neighbour’s homestead at night.
The neighbour, who was armed, reportedly mistook Achulo and two others for attackers targeting his livestock.
The other two individuals escaped.
The body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy. Police noted that some villagers in the area prefer to handle security issues locally.
