Kariobangi North MCA-elect David Wanyoike Warui./HANDOUTDemocracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has recorded another major milestone after its candidate David Wanyoike Warui clinched the Kariobangi North Ward representative seat.
According to official results announced at the tallying center by IEBC, Warui secured 2,282 votes. In second place was independent candidate Kimanzi John Katua with 1,956 votes. Michael Ouma Majua of ODM was third with 1,351 votes, followed by Njoka Julius Maina (UDA) with 955 votes. Peter Kariuki of Kanu garnered 220 votes.
The victory gives DCP a fresh boost in Nairobi politics, following recent gains in the Kisa East ward in Kwisero constituency, and positions the party as a potential contender ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In his acceptance speech, the MCA-elect struck a conciliatory tone and extended an olive branch to his rivals.
“Politics is not enmity; life must continue. I ask my rivals to come and let us work together,” he told supporters shortly after he was declared the winner.
Warui described the victory as a defining moment not just for Kariobangi North but for the party’s national outlook.
“When Nairobi speaks, the nation has spoken. This win is a statement of what we should expect in the 2027 General Election. My win means DCP will be a formidable force in the 2027 elections,” he said.
The Kariobangi North seat fell vacant following the death of former MCA Joel Munuve.
