A 32-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the death of her husband in a bar in the Chepalungu area, Bomet County.

The deceased, identified as Bernard Kipkoech, 36, had a deep stab wound in the neck inflicted with a broken glass bottle.

The deceased and the suspected assailant were husband and wife, police said.

Police and witnesses said they had gone to the bar for refreshments when they argued and began to fight. It was then that the woman grabbed a bottle of beer, broke it, and used it to stab Kipkoech in the neck.

He bled to death. The man was rushed to Tenwek Mission Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The woman was later arrested and detained for arraignment following the November 25 dawn incident.

Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Police said they had not established what prompted the argument and subsequent fatal fight.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident in which one James Munene, 22, was found dead after a suspected suicide in Eldas, Wajir County. He was a shopkeeper in the area.

Locals said he had failed to open for the day on Monday, prompting them to check on him. The shop had been locked from the inside, and when they forced it open, they found his body hanging from a rafter with a rope around his neck.

The motive for the incident was not known, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In Kitengela Town, Kajiado County, a Rwandese national was stoned to death over suspicion of being a thief.

Police said the man, aged 21, was accused of stealing before he was stoned to death behind a petrol station.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations. Two suspects were also arrested after a chase following a failed robbery of a mobile phone in the Muthaga area, Nairobi.

The suspects had snatched a mobile phone from a woman and sped off on a motorcycle when other boda boda riders responded and chased them.

They were intercepted by the riders, who beat them up before handing them over to the police. Police said they are investigating the incident and that the stolen mobile phone was recovered from the two.

Such cases of mobile phone snatching have been on the rise amid efforts to address the trend.
