Members of the Rastafari Society of Kenya (RSK) broke into song outside the Milimani Law Court, chanting lyrics rooted in their spiritual beliefs.
The members of RSK renewed calls for recognition of their faith and the legalisation of cannabis.
Clad in traditional regalia, the group carried symbolic calabashes, saying they represent purity, culture and respect.
They urged authorities to end what they termed discrimination against their way of life.

RSK maintains that criminalising the use of
cannabis violates their constitutional rights, including freedom of religion,
privacy and equality.
They say the ban unfairly targets members of their community by criminalising rituals they consider sacred
The Rastafarians arrived at the High Court waving three flags: the Kenyan national flag, one symbolising Black supremacy, and another representing unity among African nations.

They passionately sang songs with lyrics like, “Science and physics come from ancient Africa… let’s come together for Ancient Africa,” echoing their call for cultural recognition and unity.
Their lawyers, led by Shadrack Wambui and Danstan Omari, joined the members interacting with them outside the court precincts.
“The others, Hindus, njuri njeke, practice their
cultures uninterrupted; the constitution provides no discrimination. All they
are asking is for the same rights to be extended to them,” the lawyers said.
