Detectives are investigating an incident where a 24-year-old man was shot and killed in unknown circumstances in Musoli village, Kakamega County.
The man, identified by police as Newton Wanjia, was found lying on a footpath in the Akatsa area with a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to officers who visited the scene, there were no bloodstains near the body, leading investigators to suspect that he may have been attacked elsewhere and the body dumped at the location.
The incident, which occurred on November 16, 2025, remains under investigation, and police say the motive of the killing has not yet been established.
The body was moved to the mortuary as detectives prepare for an autopsy and pursue additional leads.
In a separate incident in Hagadera, Garissa County, four people were arrested in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found lying inside a house at Borehole Five.
Police said the girl is believed to have been strangled using her headscarf and had blood oozing from her mouth when officers arrived at the scene.
Authorities said they were alerted to the killing and promptly arrested a key suspect alongside three others accused of attempting to conceal the crime.
According to police, the main suspect will face murder charges, while the other three are expected to be charged as accessories after the fact.
Detectives are also investigating whether the girl was defiled before she was killed on November 15, 2025.
Her body was transferred to a local mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
The killing adds to a number of similar incidents recently reported in the area, where authorities have raised concerns over families opting to settle serious crimes through informal agreements rather than pursuing legal channels.
Local administrators and security officials have intensified civic education campaigns to discourage such practices, stressing that offences such as murder, rape, and related crimes are punishable and must be subjected to judicial processes.
They argue that cultural practices that promote out-of-court settlements in serious criminal matters continue to hinder justice for victims.
Meanwhile, in Nairobi, a suspected robber was stoned to death in a mob attack following an attempted theft along Mwafrika Road in the Kasarani area.
Police and witnesses said the suspect had allegedly snatched a mobile phone from a pedestrian when members of the public raised an alarm.
Before officers arrived at the scene, the man had already been attacked by the crowd.
Police found the body at the scene and later moved it to the mortuary pending identification and postmortem.
Security agencies have repeatedly discouraged mob justice, warning that the trend undermines the rule of law.
They urge members of the public to hand over suspects to authorities for due
process, especially amid rising cases of mob lynching reported in various parts
of the country.
