Police in Nairobi are investigating the death of a 19-year-old man who died after being assaulted during a fight in Kiamaiko, Huruma area.

According to police reports, the victim, identified as Abraham John, was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital on Tuesday morning.

The incident is said to have involved a group of about eight people.

Nairobi Police Commander George Seda said it was not immediately clear what triggered the altercation, though preliminary investigations suggest it may have stemmed from a dispute over control of small businesses in the area — a recurring source of tension among rival groups.

Following the incident, police launched an operation in Kiamaiko and arrested seven suspects believed to have been involved in the fatal confrontation.

Seda said additional officers had been deployed to the area to prevent possible retaliatory attacks and restore calm.

“Tension had been reported, but the situation is now under control,” Seda said, adding that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the teenager’s death.

Elsewhere in Ayany, Nairobi, police are investigating the sudden death of a 41-year-old man whose body was discovered in his house.

The deceased, identified as Stephene Omukuba, was found lying next to his bed after a neighbour went to check on him.

Police said they found no immediate signs of foul play but have taken the body to the mortuary for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The incident occurred on November 11, 2025. Police said post-mortem results will guide further action.

Meanwhile, two separate drowning incidents in Nakuru County have left two people, including a four-year-old boy, dead.

In the first incident at Koyomtich village in Menengai area, the body of a man believed to be a casual labourer was found floating in the Molo River.

Locals said the man had been living in an unfinished building near the riverbank.

Authorities said the body, which was in a state of decomposition, was recovered and taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police have not established how the man ended up in the river.

In the second incident, a four-year-old boy who had been reported missing on November 11 was found drowned in a water pool in Mau Narok, also in Nakuru County.

Police said the child’s body was discovered the following day in a swampy section of a neighbour’s farm.

The swamp, which was once used as a fish pond, had been left unattended.

Investigators believe the boy may have strayed into the area and accidentally drowned. His body was moved to the mortuary as police continue with investigations.

Police have urged residents to report any suspicious activities promptly and to exercise caution around open water sources to avoid similar tragedies.
