
A 24-year-old medical student was stabbed and killed in a fight in a suspected love triangle saga in their room in Makindu Town, Makueni County.
Police and witnesses
said Gloria Njiru was stabbed and killed by her colleagues in a fight that
broke out at a hostel they stayed in in the Kalimandogo area.
The deceased stayed in a house with three other students from a medical college in Thika. They were on medical attachment at the Makindu Sub County Hospital.
Neighbours said a fight broke out among the students, leaving two of them with serious stab wounds.
They had earlier argued over undisclosed reasons, the neighbours said. Gloria was rushed to the local hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police responded to the scene and arrested a suspect in the stabbing. A second suspect, who is also a student, was admitted in the hospital under police guard.
She said they had argued over their love life before the same turned tragic. The survivor had knife-cut injuries on the hands and the neck, police said.
The body of the deceased
was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Police said they are
investigating the tragedy. The parents of the victims were summoned to the scene
for talks and to be informed of the tragedy.
Elsewhere in the Oljoroko area, Nyandarua County, the body of one Scholar Wanjiru, 37, was found lying on
the roadside at the Kwa Muindi area after a suspected murder.
Police said the body had
visible head injuries with fresh wounds, and it is suspected she was killed by
her boyfriend.
The boyfriend was
missing, and police said efforts to arrest him were ongoing.
The motive of the murder
was not immediately known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an
autopsy and other procedures.
In the Kogony area, Kisumu
County, a night guard was found dead after a suspected murder.
The guard was found dead
at a construction site while he was on duty, police said. Police said nothing
was stolen from the site, and they were yet to establish the motive of the
murder.
The body had visible
injuries on the mouth and back when it was discovered in a pool of blood.
The body was moved to
the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Murder cases have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them.
