Crime scene

A man was lynched by a mob moments after he fatally slashed his alleged former girlfriend in a suspected love triangle in Kitumbutu area, Machakos County.

The deceased woman, identified as Susan Nyaboke, 22, was found lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on her neck and jaw, police said.

According to police, the woman was an employee of Inspire Credit in Machakos.

On Monday afternoon, she and a colleague had visited a client in the area to negotiate a loan agreement when the tragic incident occurred.

After concluding their business and as the two were leaving the area, the assailant suddenly emerged and attacked Nyaboke, slashing her on the neck and jaw.

Her colleague screamed for help, drawing the attention of nearby residents.

A mob quickly responded and pursued the attacker, catching up with him a short distance from the scene. He was stoned to death before police could intervene.

Police later moved both bodies to the mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations.

Authorities said they are working to establish the exact nature of the relationship between the attacker and the victim, and whether the meeting in the area had been a planned setup.

Elsewhere, police in Ntimaru, Migori County, are investigating the murder of a 54-year-old man who was stabbed to death in an attack along a local road.

The incident occurred on the night of Monday, October 27, police said.

The victim, identified as Daniele Mwita, was reportedly accosted by three men armed with a knife and other crude weapons.

Mwita was stabbed in the stomach and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

Police said murder cases have been on the rise in the region, with some incidents linked to cattle rustling. Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible for the recent killings.

In another incident, a 17-year-old girl was found murdered and her body dumped in a thicket in the Kivi area of Kangundo, also in Machakos County.

According to police, the body was discovered by locals on Sunday evening, who then alerted authorities. The girl’s body was naked and bore visible head injuries.

The deceased was a student at Imilini Secondary School in the area. Police said the motive behind the killing remains unknown, and no arrests have been made so far.

The body was taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
